This week has seen the Year 5 students exploring economics and business, with a keen interest in designing a small business. In a few weeks, we will see their finished products and services that students will promote to their peers.
We enjoyed a History incursion that tested our memories as we watched a production that documented history in Australia. Traditional songs with meaningful prose were used to spark discussions about the past and present lives in our nation.
Maths has been linked with the Economics unit through financial maths and tasks revolving around money. Understandably, the students enjoyed dreaming of the money they will earn and how they will budget to achieve their goals.
Transition sessions to orient students to Year six have occurred, with positive experiences being reported. Year 5’s are feeling confident, and many have nominated for leadership roles next year. The teachers are very proud of all of the students as they move ahead in their primary education.
Just a reminder to Year 5 parents about Coding Club. Coding Club is open to all Year 5 & 6 students. This gives students the opportunity to extend their coding skills. If your child is interested, Coding Club runs every Monday morning at 8:00 am in 5C’s room.
